2030 Innovation and Commercialization Targets
Ho Chi Minh City aims for more than 40 percent of businesses to engage in innovation, the establishment of 5,000 innovative startups, and raising the commercialization rate of scientific research to between 8 and 10 percent by 2030.
Vietnamese Technologies Reaching the Global Market
While approximately 15 domestically manufactured technology products from factories in the city are exported to 40 countries worldwide, Cao Nguyen Nhat Trieu, CEO of Nhatrang Hitech Co., Ltd., emphasized that the city provides significant advantages thanks to its young population and status as a science and technology center.
International Investment in Artificial Intelligence Startup
Tensor, a company founded by young engineers, received a $75,000 investment from Qualcomm thanks to its artificial intelligence-powered solution that determines the sex of chicks while still in the egg, and aims to commercialize this product on a broader scale.
Entrepreneurship Support Programs and Legal Framework
The city administration implements various support programs amounting to 40 million VND for projects at the idea stage, 80 million VND for those at the incubation stage, and 400 million VND for those at the acceleration stage.
Nguyen Thanh Thao, Senior Business Development Manager at Qualcomm, stated that current innovation policies create a suitable legal framework for domestic businesses.
Global Ranking and Future Plans
Tran Trong Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, stated that the city entered the top 100 in StartupBlink's 2026 assessment and will focus on implementing mechanisms under the Urban Development Law in the upcoming period.
