Domestic Technology Offering Doctors a Virtual Rehearsal Opportunity Before Surgery
Supported by TÜBİTAK and converting MRI data into three-dimensional models, this domestic project allows surgeons to perform simulations and collaborative remote surgeries in a virtual environment.
With the TÜBİTAK-backed MetaMed Project, patients' MRI data are converted into three-dimensional models, enabling doctors to conduct detailed examinations, lesion detections, and simulations in a virtual environment prior to surgery.
Domestic Health Technology Introduced at TEKNOFEST
The Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST), organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation, continues to welcome visitors at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
MetaMed Health Technologies, which has been made available to medical faculty students in certain university hospitals with the approval of the Ministry of Health, is also being introduced to visitors at the festival booth.
MRI Data Converted into Three-Dimensional Models
Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK-supported MetaMed Project, patients' MRI data are converted into three-dimensional models, giving doctors the opportunity to examine them in a virtual environment before surgery.
Computer engineer Emre Kaan Şanverdi stated that thanks to this developed system, pre-surgical preparation processes have been entirely moved to the virtual environment.
Doctors in Different Countries Can Meet in the Same Virtual Surgery
It is stated that thanks to the project, expert doctors in different countries can even come together in the same virtual surgery environment.
It was noted that MRI data is transferred into three-dimensional models using the developed device and surgeons prepare for operations accompanied by these simulations.
One-to-One Accuracy and Remote Control Privilege
Conveying that the system operates with a one-to-one accuracy rate, Emre Kaan Şanverdi emphasized that critical procedures such as lesion detection, volumetry, and detailed measurement can be easily performed.
It was stated that the system can be controlled remotely without requiring the doctor to be physically present at the patient's side, and it is expected to become widespread across the country in a short time.
