GTIPA Publishes Global Artificial Intelligence Policies and Innovation Report

The Global Trade and Innovation Policy Alliance has published a comprehensive report addressing artificial intelligence policies worldwide, along with a new declaration calling for open artificial intelligence.

Scope of the Global Artificial Intelligence Report

Artificial intelligence is considered the most important general-purpose technology of this decade due to its transformative effects, similar to electricity and the internet. Uncertainties regarding the capacity and direction of the technology persist throughout this process.

The newly published report brings together thirty-two different case studies prepared with the contributions of twenty-eight think tanks from thirty different countries. The study details the steps taken by governments to foster artificial intelligence in their economies.

Innovation Examples from Different Geographies

The countries highlighted in the report feature a broad geographical and economic diversity representing every continent except Antarctica. Some of these examples convey achieved successes, while others convey visions that have not yet been realized.

Among the countries included in the study are numerous diverse states such as Albania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, the United States, and Vietnam.

Global Declaration for Open Artificial Intelligence

The report also includes an Open Artificial Intelligence Declaration, which demands that democratic nations establish a global framework for free and open artificial intelligence. This text aims to protect freedom of expression and innovation.

Supported by twenty-three signatories, the declaration argues that governments should refrain from censoring artificial intelligence. It aims to ensure that the technology remains accessible and aligned with democratic values through international cooperation.
