İstiklal University of Science and Technology Rector Bakan Delivers First Lecture

İstiklal University of Science and Technology Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Bakan came together with students at the orientation program held at the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. Rector Bakan discussed the university's restructuring process, quality education goals, and employment opportunities in the defense industry.

Restructuring Process

İstiklal University of Science and Technology Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Bakan met with students at the orientation program held in the Central Classroom Conference Hall. Stating that the university is marching toward the future with its new name, Rector Bakan emphasized that this transformation holds great added value for the students.

Quality Education and Defense Industry

Stating that the university focuses on quality rather than quantity, Rector Bakan noted that they train qualified personnel in the fields of defense industry and high technology. He recorded that all students who graduated from the Aviation Vocational School last year received job offers.

New Faculties and Departments of the Future

Expressing that İBTÜ is growing in a planned manner, Rector Bakan announced the establishment of new units such as the TUSAŞ Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Faculty of Computer and Informatics Sciences, the School of Foreign Languages, and the Faculty of Science. The Faculty of Business Administration established in Elbistan is being structured with artificial intelligence and management information systems departments.

Modern Campus Projects

Stating that campus infrastructure works have been proceeding rapidly for 1.5 years, Rector Bakan expressed that a modern campus will be offered to students with projects including a rectorate building shaped like an airplane, a biological pond cafeteria, an amphitheater, and a specialized technopark.
