A delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology conducted an on-site inspection of the implementation of measures against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing at My Tho Fishing Port in Dong Thap province.

Delegation Conducts Inspection

Led by Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the delegation carried out field inspections at the port during the morning to review operations.

Management Board Submits Report

Officials from the Fisheries Port Management Board under the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Environment reported on the control of vessels entering and exiting the port as well as seafood certification processes.

Port Activities and Duty Roster

It was noted that Dong Thap has two Type II fishing ports, My Tho and Vam Lang, where a continuous duty system has been established to track vessels.

Electronic Recording System

Since early July 2026, the use of electronic fishing logs has been promoted, with 295 fishing vessels across the province implementing this system.

Technical Obstacles and Issues

During the meeting, certain technical obstacles were also raised, such as instabilities in eCDT data connections and difficulties in obtaining coordinates caused by power outages.
