French artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI has announced its next-generation artificial intelligence model, Mistral Large 4, designed to rival Chinese open-source models in order to increase its market share.
Also known by the name Le Chonk, this new model with 1 trillion parameters was trained to operate in the cybersecurity, coding, manufacturing, and finance sectors.
Training Process and Technical Infrastructure
It was trained over a two-month period using 4,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell GPUs located in data centers across Europe.
Company officials state that this newly developed model possesses power capable of challenging the top spot among global open-source models.
Limited User Base and Access
Attracting global attention, the artificial intelligence model has not been opened to general public use for now and has been made available only to a limited user base.
This early access group consists of government institutions, cybersecurity companies, researchers, and select business partners.
Future Plans and Emphasis on Security
Mistral stated that the model will be made available to the general public as open source after the necessary security tests are completed.
Guillaume Lample, one of the company's co-founders, stated that they aim to make institutions more resilient against cybercriminals by increasing infrastructure capacity.
