The STEM scholarship policy implemented by the government creates a strong incentive for students to choose science, engineering, and technology fields in Vietnam, while offering a new approach to attracting qualified human resources for strategic technology sectors.

Scholarship Opportunities at the University of Technology

During the first days of the new academic year at the University of Technology, more than 4,100 new students from the K71 cohort were welcomed, with over 2,000 individuals—accounting for more than 50% of these students—qualifying for the Government's STEM scholarship evaluation for students studying in priority fields.

According to the university's announcement, 18 out of 20 undergraduate programs are currently eligible for scholarships, and a total of 55 programs in various strategic technologies and basic sciences are under evaluation for support.

Scholarship Status at Other Universities

The University of Science under Vietnam National University, Hanoi is also providing detailed information to its students regarding scholarship opportunities under Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP.

Meanwhile, the Thuy Loi University (Water Resources University) has officially stated that 22 out of its 47 training programs fully comply with the Government's scholarship policy.

Scholarship Scope and Support Amounts

According to the list published by the Ministry of Education and Training, there are a total of 111 different majors across 15 subject groups that may qualify for STEM scholarships.

The provided support amount ranges from approximately 3.7 to 5.5 million VND per person per month, with the maximum support period set at 4 years for undergraduate programs and 5 years for engineering programs.

Candidates' Interest in STEM Majors

During this year's university admission season, over 467,000 candidates—accounting for more than 53% of total university applicants—consciously chose STEM majors for their preferences.
