Strategic Technology Cooperation Steps Between Vietnam and South Korea

Within the scope of the official visit by Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and the accompanying delegation visited the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in South Korea to discuss technological partnerships between the two countries.

Framework Agreement and Scope of the Visit

Cooperation between the science and technology ministries of the two countries and the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs resulted in the signing of the Framework Agreement on the Master Plan for Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation Between Vietnam and South Korea. This development was recorded as a significant step toward deepening strategic relations between the two states.

Meeting Attended by High-Ranking Officials

The meeting held within the framework of contacts in Seoul was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Government Office, and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong. Additionally, Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) Director Vu Duc Loi and KIST President Oh Sang Rok were present at the meeting.

Historical Role of KIST and Importance of Cooperation

KIST President Oh Sang Rok stated that the institute was established in 1966 as the first multidisciplinary research center funded by the Korean government. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung praised KIST's critical role in the country's development and emphasized the cooperation in establishing VKIST in Vietnam.

Technical Inspections at Research Centers

During the working visit, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and the accompanying delegation toured KIST's Semiconductor Technology Center, Quantum Technology Center, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute, and Energy Storage Research Center on-site.
