Students Met with Science and Nature Activities Through the "Overcoming Barriers with Science" Project
Children with special needs participated in versatile workshop activities during a four-legged program organized in partnership with Fatih Municipality and TÜBİTAK.
The "Overcoming Barriers with Science" project, implemented in cooperation with Fatih Municipality and TÜBİTAK, brought together children with special needs through science, technology, art, and nature-based activities.
Location and Date of the Project
Prepared in cooperation with Fatih Municipality and TÜBİTAK, the "Overcoming Barriers with Science" project took place between September 2 and 5, 2026, at Science Fatih (Bilim Fatih) and the Land Walls Nation's Garden (Karasurları Millet Bahçesi).
Participant Profile and Scope
Special needs students aged eight to fourteen participated in the STEAM-based science school program alongside their parents.
The program was implemented with a rich content that supports students' sense of curiosity and allows them to use their different skills.
Activities Conducted Over Four Days
Throughout the four-day events, students conducted experiments, made observations, produced original designs, and had the opportunity to discover nature closely.
The program featured many different workshops such as Layers of the Earth, Terrarium, Geometric Shape Necklace Design, Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, and Bag Painting.
Science and Art Workshops
Science Shows, Rocket Launching, and Microscope Observations were organized to help students acquire new knowledge as well as develop their manual skills and attention processes.
Additionally, art-focused activities such as Rhythm in Nature, Ceramics, Candle Workshop, Augmented Reality, and Stained Glass were offered to the students.
Nature-Based Outdoor Activities
With the nature-based activities carried out at the Land Walls Nation's Garden, the learning process was moved entirely outdoors.
Thus, students gained the opportunity to directly observe the environment and develop awareness of sustainable living issues.
Social Development and Expert Support
During the process carried out with the contributions of psychologists, social service specialists, instructors, and assistant instructors, all developmental areas of the students were closely observed.
Parents, on the other hand, had the opportunity to come together with other families to share mutual information and experiences.
