Turkey Signs Artemis Accords to Enhance Cooperation in Space Activities
With the signing ceremony held in Washington, Turkey became the 71st state to join the agreement aiming at the peaceful exploration of space.
Turkey signed the Artemis Accords, which regulate the peaceful exploration and use of space, in Washington, becoming the 71st country to adopt the principles in this field.

The accords, signed by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır in Washington with the participation of U.S. officials, came into effect on August 31.

In a congratulatory message published by the U.S. Department of State, it was emphasized that Turkey is a valuable NATO ally and its participation in the accords was welcomed.
Contribution to the National Space Program
This signature is anticipated to contribute to the integration of the domestic space industry into the global economy and the advancement of strategic targets within the framework of the National Space Program.
Lunar Research Project and Cooperation
The accords are expected to provide strong international support for Turkey's first lunar mission efforts carried out in partnership with the Turkish Space Agency and TÜBİTAK UZAY.
Hosting the International Astronautical Congress
Turkey will expand its space vision by hosting the 77th International Astronautical Congress to be held in Antalya between October 5-9, 2026.
Scope of the Artemis Accords
Initiated in 2020 under the leadership of NASA, the accords set non-binding common principles for the peaceful, safe, and transparent exploration of outer space.
