An international study led by Stanford University has shown that yellow plaques forming around the eyes carry serious risks for heart health.
A comprehensive study conducted in the US revealed that yellow spots appearing around the eyes as a result of cholesterol and fat accumulation can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke by approximately three times.

Within the framework of the international study led by Stanford University, health data of approximately 18,000 patients with yellow plaques around their eyes and healthy individuals were compared in detail.
As a result of the examination, it was determined that individuals with such lesions around their eyes had a significantly higher risk of suffering a heart attack, stroke, and transient ischemic attack.
Meaning of the Plaques and Risks
Scientists noted that these fatty deposits appearing on the eyelids do not directly cause a heart attack, but they are important silent indicators of arteriosclerosis.
Researchers pointed out that these plaques carry risks independently of blood lipid levels, emphasizing that patients mostly evaluate the condition merely as an aesthetic problem.
