Following the announcement by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition that the Houthis carried out an attempted drone attack targeting Mecca, consecutive condemnation and reaction messages arrived from Turkey.

Condemnation Message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In an official statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the drone attack targeting the holy city of Mecca was strongly condemned.

The statement emphasized Turkey's solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterated its support for regional security.

Reaction from Communications Director Duran

Communications Director Burhanettin Duran stated that he strongly denounces the attack attempt targeting the security of Mecca al-Mukarrama.

Statement by the Arab Coalition

Arab Coalition Spokesperson Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki announced that Saudi air defense forces destroyed the drone south of Mecca.

The statement shared the information that the unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted before entering the prohibited airspace.

Houthis Deny the Claims

Houthi Military Spokesperson Yahya Saree argued that the claims alleging Mecca was targeted do not reflect the truth.

Saree claimed that in their attacks they target oil facilities and military bases, and stay away from holy sites.
