Turkey Surpasses OECD Average in PISA 2025 Results
According to the PISA 2025 international student assessment data, Turkey became the country that increased its score the most across all branches.
According to the PISA 2025 results published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Turkey became the OECD country with the highest score increases in science, reading skills, and mathematics. With this nationwide rise, Turkey surpassed the OECD average in science and reading.
PISA 2025 Score Increases
Compared to the 2022 results, Turkey recorded an increase of 18 points in science, 16 points in reading skills, and 9 points in mathematics. The science score was 494, the reading skills score was 472, and the mathematics score was 462.
With these scores, Turkey rose above the OECD average in science and reading areas, while reaching the exact OECD average in mathematics.
Major Rise in Rankings
Turkey's success ranking among OECD countries gained remarkable momentum in all three areas. In the science ranking, it rose from 29th to 14th.
Climbing from 30th to 13th in reading skills, Turkey also managed to rise from 32nd to 23rd in the field of mathematics.
Success Against the General Trend
In OECD countries between 2022 and 2025, mathematics scores declined by an average of 9 points, and reading scores by 14 points. This drop in reading performance was recorded as the largest decline in PISA history.
Contrary to this general downward trend, Turkey was among the rare countries to show an increase in all branches.
Student Profile and Ministry Statement
According to OECD data, Turkey reduced the proportion of low-performing students while increasing the proportion of top-performing students during the 2015-2025 period.
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin congratulated students, teachers, and parents in his evaluation following the results, stating that they will continue to work for quality education.
