Turkish Grand National Assembly Begins New Legislative Year with Busy Agenda
In its first week of the new legislative year, the Parliament will discuss the Turkish Red Crescent bill, regulations on digital accommodation platforms, and a presentation by CBRT Governor Fatih Karahan.
The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will address the bill regulating the duties and powers of the Turkish Red Crescent in the first week of the new legislative year. The parliamentary agenda also includes digital accommodation platforms, a fund investigation, and a presentation by the Central Bank Governor.
New Legal Regulation for Turkish Red Crescent
The General Assembly will discuss a 9-article bill regulating the duties, powers, financial rights, and exemptions of the Turkish Red Crescent. The institution's powers are being regulated by a separate law for the first time to ensure the effective execution of its activities.
According to the bill, the Red Crescent will be the sole authorized entity for receiving in-kind and cash aid coming to Turkey from international organizations, and will be able to procure strategic products without tenders in situations such as disasters and wars.
Foreign Digital Accommodation Platforms
The Parliamentary Public Works, Reconstruction, Transportation, and Tourism Commission will convene to address the Bill on Foreign Digital Accommodation Platforms, placing their operations on a legal basis.
Within the framework of the regulation, it will become mandatory for platforms to obtain a certificate of authorization from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in order to operate in Turkey.
Central Bank Presentation and Fund Investigation
At the Planning and Budget Commission, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Governor Fatih Karahan will make a presentation on global developments and the inflation process.
Additionally, the recent fund investigation and legislative amendments aimed at preventing potential crises will be comprehensively addressed in Parliament.
