Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş officially handed over seven children—three girls and four boys—who were under state protection to Syrian authorities during her official contacts in Damascus.
Orphanage Visit Realized in Damascus
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş visited the Melody of Life orphanage, which houses children under state care and protection in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
During this meaningful visit, Minister Göktaş was accompanied by her Syrian counterpart, Hind Kabavat, and Turkey's Ambassador to Syria, Nuh Yılmaz.
Children Entrusted Within the Scope of Voluntary Return
Stating that women and children are the biggest victims of wars, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş emphasized that Turkey has always stood by the Syrian people during the war process.
It was reported that as a result of social evaluations, three girls and four boys who have family ties in Syria were handed over to the Syrian state within the framework of the voluntary return process.
Emphasis on Child Protection Between the Two Countries
Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabavat stated that the efforts carried out for the protection of families and children within the cooperation between Turkey and Syria are of great importance.
Kabavat expressed that the ongoing reconstruction process is not limited to the construction of buildings, and that human beings come long before stone and concrete.
