Virtual Patrol by Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command: 417 Websites Blocked
During ongoing virtual patrol activities, 417 sites spreading illegal betting, phishing, and obscene content were blocked.
As a result of virtual patrol activities carried out by the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, 417 websites determined to contain illegal betting, fraud, and obscene content were blocked from access.
Virtual Patrol Activities
Virtual patrol and open-source research activities were conducted in the internet environment by the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command between September 21-27. Within the scope of these efforts, a total of 760 social media accounts and URL addresses were examined in detail.
Detection of Illegal Betting and Obscenity
As a result of the investigations, 341 websites determined to facilitate illegal betting were identified. Additionally, 6 websites engaging in fraud via phishing methods and 70 websites sharing obscene content were among the other malicious addresses detected.
Access Blocking Procedures
A total of 417 websites identified were reported to the Presidency of Cyber Security after the necessary legal procedures, and access blocks were imposed on the relevant sites. This operation aimed to prevent cybercrimes.
Fraud Incident in Çankaya
Efforts to shed light on unsolved cyber incidents that occurred this year are also continuing uninterrupted. In this context, a qualified fraud incident in the Çankaya district was solved under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and judicial proceedings were initiated against the suspect.
