According to a statement from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, 37-year-old Keshia Golden pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on August 24. The incident occurred in October 2022 at their home in Chicago.
Self-Defense and History of Domestic Violence
Defense attorneys and supporters stated that Golden, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was defending herself. Investigation records indicated that Calvin Sidney attacked Golden following a baby shower and slammed her head against a counter.
It was also reported that Golden had obtained a restraining order against Sidney in the months prior to the incident, and police had been called to the home multiple times in the past due to domestic violence allegations.
