Breaking away from the very beginning of the race and maintaining her lead until the final moment, Ngetich completed the race with a time of one hour, five minutes, and 15 seconds.

With this time, Agnes Ngetich managed to improve the women-only half marathon world record by one second and reached the finish line 50 seconds ahead of her closest rival.

While another Kenyan athlete, Veronica Loleo, secured the second-place position in the race, Ngetich's dominant performance drew significant attention.

Past Records and Achievements

The previous record had been set by another Kenyan athlete, Peres Jepchirchir, who won the World Half Marathon title in 2020.

Meanwhile, the overall women's half marathon world record is held by Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey with a time of 1:02:52 set in 2021.
