Spain's Policía Nacional forces determined that a dangerous internationally wanted fugitive was living in the northeastern city of Tarragona. During the operation, the suspect put up active resistance.
Remarkable Past Escape Incidents
Dubbed an "escape wizard" by the Italian media, the individual managed to escape from prisons in Terni in 2009, Parma in 2013, and in Belgium the same year.
He carried out his latest escape in December 2025 from a maximum-security prison in Italy by cutting window bars and using bedsheets.
Criminal Record and Background
It is known that the individual has been sentenced to prison until 2048 for crimes such as violent robbery, theft, and drug trafficking, and that he escaped from a prison in Milan eight months ago.
Scuffle During the Detention
During the operation, some citizens accompanying the suspect attempted to obstruct the police, and one individual injured two officers. The police recovered a firearm discarded at the scene.
Fake Documents and Extradition Process
The detained individual was found in possession of fake identity documents and two 500-euro banknotes evaluated to be counterfeit. The arrested suspect is awaiting extradition to Italy.
