According to Altrata's Billionaire Census 2026 report, fueled by the impact of artificial intelligence-driven sectors, global billionaire wealth surged to a record $15.1 trillion in 2025, with the number of billionaires worldwide reaching 3,795.

Artificial Intelligence and Rising Fortunes

Developments in the technology ecosystem, such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and data centers, served as the primary engine behind the growth of billionaire wealth.

According to Altrata data, publicly traded companies making artificial intelligence investments increased their market values much faster compared to those not focused on artificial intelligence.

The Concentrated Share of Super-Billionaires

The growth in wealth draws attention not only in terms of numbers but also with a tendency toward concentration in certain hands, as the share of the super-rich grows.

Twenty-nine super-billionaires, each with a net worth exceeding $50 billion, single-handedly control 27 percent of global billionaire wealth.

Regional Distribution and Report Discrepancies

While North America continues to be home to the highest number of billionaires, it was followed by Europe and Asia in the continental rankings.

Minor numerical differences between the UBS report and Altrata data stem from the methodologies used by the institutions and discrepancies in family unit counting.
