Attention Drawn to Cardiovascular Diseases on World Heart Day
Cardiology specialists emphasized that circulatory system diseases rank first among deaths in our country and warned against risk factors.
In statements made within the scope of World Heart Day, it was stated that circulatory system diseases are responsible for a significant portion of deaths and that one in every three citizens is lost for this reason.
Leading Cause of Death
34.7% of deaths originate from circulatory system diseases. 1 out of every 3 citizens lost passes away due to cardiovascular disorders.
Ischemic Heart Diseases
42.3% of deaths related to the circulatory system stem from ischemic heart diseases, namely the blockage and narrowing of the vessels feeding the heart. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one health threat in our country.
Risk Factors and Age Range
The risk increases markedly after age 45 in men and 55 in women. The foundations of arteriosclerosis are laid during youth years.
Factors Increasing the Danger
Smoking, high cholesterol, uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, and a family history of early heart attack cause the risk to be pulled to earlier ages.
Exercise Recommendations
To protect the heart, 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week should be targeted. 30 minutes of brisk walks per day hold an important place in this process.
Appropriate Pace Activities
While walking, breathing should accelerate, but one should be in a position to form sentences with the person next to them. Brisk walking, swimming, cycling, and light jogging are among the aerobic exercises that can be preferred.
Muscle Strengthening
In addition to aerobic activities, working the muscles also carries great importance. Accordingly, light muscle-strengthening exercises should be added to the program 2 days a week.
