While the BMW team finished the race at the top, they managed to leave their closest rivals four points behind in the overall championship standings.
Record-Breaking Performance and Riders
The number 37 BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle, ridden by Markus Reiterberger, Steven Odendaal, and Michael van der Mark, broke the track record by completing 742 laps.
The team finished the race one lap ahead of its closest pursuer, Yoshimura SERT Motul, and two laps ahead of the YART Yamaha team.
Redemption of the Past and Tactical Superiority
This success served as a major redemption following the unfortunate mechanical failure experienced while leading just half an hour before the end of the race at the same track the previous year.
Starting the race from pole position, the number 37 machine established tactical superiority by recording the lowest total pit-stop time.
