China's US Ambassador Issues Red Line Warning Ahead of Summit

Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng penned an article in an official newspaper ahead of the summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. Ambassador Xie emphasized that China's sovereignty, security, and development interests cannot be violated, outlining four red lines that must not be crossed.
Diplomatic Warning Ahead of the Summit
Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng made important statements ahead of the two leaders' meeting in Washington. At this critical period when the two leaders aim to increase stability in relations, the ambassador stated that differences between the parties must be managed with good intentions.
Four Announced Red Lines
Xie Feng stated that China's sovereignty, security, and development interests can under no circumstances be violated. He emphasized that the Taiwan issue, democracy and human rights, development paths and systems, and development rights are the four fundamental red lines that must not be crossed.
Calls Directed at the US
The ambassador expressed that the US should stop producing excuses such as national security and economic imbalances. He stated that when China and the US cooperate, both sides will benefit, and when they conflict, they will suffer losses.
Taiwan and Strategic Competition
China views democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory. Meanwhile, the US continues to maintain its position as Taiwan's most important international supporter and arms supplier, despite having no official ties.
