According to current data shared by the Congolese Ministry of Health, the total number of people who lost their lives due to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the country reached 3,007.
The total number of confirmed cases during the outbreak was recorded as 6,186 nationwide, and the disease retains the distinction of being the fastest-spreading Ebola outbreak recorded to date.
Causes of Spread
Behind the rapid spread of the disease are factors such as conflicts in the eastern part of the country, attacks on healthcare workers, and miners who are constantly on the move.
Additionally, inadequate healthcare infrastructure and the reopening of schools in the midst of the outbreak raise concerns regarding the risk of transmission in classrooms.
