House Oversight Committee Democratic member Robert Garcia delivered an official letter to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles on Monday.
In the letter he sent, Garcia expressed concern regarding potential foreign connections that might have occurred between the president's son and Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev.
Documents and Communication Records Requested
The letter requested the sharing of various documents and records, alongside communications held between the White House and Trump Jr. concerning Umar Kremlev.
Additionally, a separate letter with similar content was written to Trump Jr., requesting financial records and gift registries related to the wedding events.
Wedding Expenses and Scope of Investigation
According to information uncovered by ProPublica, Umar Kremlev spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for the wedding celebrations of Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Bettina.
While the US president previously stated in a remark that he had no knowledge of the oligarch, this investigation constitutes part of a broader inquiry.
