Earl Lovelace Collection Inscribed on UNESCO Regional Register
The manuscript collection of Earl Lovelace has been accepted into UNESCO's Memory of the World Regional Register, and its certificate was presented at a special ceremony.
A special ceremony held at the Alma Jordan Library of the University of the West Indies celebrated the inscription of Earl Lovelace's manuscript collection, dating from 1963 to 1999, onto UNESCO's Memory of the World Regional Register for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Alma Jordan Library at the University of the West Indies hosted a special ceremony on July 10, 2026, to celebrate the acceptance of Earl Lovelace's manuscript collection into the UNESCO register.
Approval at the MoWLAC Meeting
The registration of the collection in question onto the Regional Register had been approved at the XXV Annual Meeting of MoWLAC, held in the cities of Lima and Cusco, Peru, between November 10-13, 2025.
Presentation of the Certificate
During the event, Professor Rosemary Bell Antwine, Campus Principal of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies, and the daughter of Trinidadian author Earl Lovelace received the certificate.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Earl Lovelace has produced a rich body of literary work throughout his career, including novels, short stories, poems, plays, and essays.

His major contribution to the development of Caribbean literature earned the author numerous accolades, including the Chaconia Gold and the Commonwealth Writers' Prize.
