G7 Takes Step on Oil and Diesel Reserves to Ease Market Pressure
In response to the energy crisis caused by conflicts in the Middle East, G7 leaders have jointly decided to release millions of barrels into the market.
G7 leaders have reached an agreement to release up to 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel in order to ease fuel prices and supply shortages driven by escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
Reserve Decision from G7 Leaders
Leaders of G7 countries have decided to release up to 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel to ease supply pressure that has caused prices to rise rapidly. This move comes as conflicts in the Middle East drive up fuel costs.
Fuel Prices in the UK
The developments come immediately after diesel prices in the UK reached record levels, hitting £2 per liter for the first time in history.
US Abandons Export Ban
US President Donald Trump had threatened to ban US diesel exports if European countries did not release their own stockpiles into the market. Following the reached agreement, Trump announced in a statement outside the White House that he would not implement this ban, stating that Europe and the US were making a major contribution to the world.
Assessment by the International Energy Agency
International Energy Agency Executive Director Fatih Birol stated that following this decision to release reserves, global oil prices began to decline.
