Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce announced that significant projects are being implemented as part of the 2026 Eskişehir Year to make the city's cultural and artistic accumulation visible internationally and to turn the city into a global culture route.
2026 Eskişehir Year Vision
The year 2026 stands out as a period where the goal of making Eskişehir's accumulation in the fields of culture and art visible on an international scale comes to the forefront.
The municipality aims to shape the city's cultural agenda and make it permanent through festivals and art projects implemented throughout the year.
International Porsuk Festival
The International Eskişehir Porsuk Festival, located at the center of the vision, makes the value the city places on culture and art visible internationally.
Artists from 21 countries participated in the festival, where the first step was taken, reaching approximately 100,000 people in its first year.
Culture and Art Projects
Among the notable events organized for the first time within the scope of the 2026 Eskişehir Year is the Eskişehir International Gürer Aykal Conducting Competition.
The International Children, Youth and Puppet Theatre Festival as well as the Yunus Emre Literature Festival are also projects that will be sustained in the long term.
Council of Europe Awards
One of the indicators of the city's visibility in the international arena has been the Flag of Honour of the Council of Europe.
The award serves as an appreciation of Eskişehir being a city open to the world and internalizing European values.
Participation of Youth in Production
In Eskişehir, which has a dynamic structure with three state universities, the participation of youth in culture and art production is heavily supported.
The City Theatres Youth Stage, Social Stages, and workshops on Art Street open their doors to young artists.
Tourism and City Economy
Culture and art mobility is considered among the most powerful strategic steps that grow tourism and the urban economy.
The city's infrastructure is strengthened with walking routes, a digital tourism platform, and touristic transportation solutions.
