Groundwork Begins at Laiyang Nuclear Power Plant Project in China
State Power Investment Corporation announced that site preparation work has begun for the first phase of the Laiyang nuclear power plant in Shandong province.
Full-scale site preparation work has officially begun for the first phase of the Laiyang nuclear power plant in China's Shandong province. According to an announcement by the State Power Investment Corporation, a total of six reactor units will be installed on the project site over time.
Site Work Begins
The State Power Investment Corporation announced that full-scale site preparation work has begun for the first phase of the Laiyang nuclear power plant.
A meeting held at the project site on September 1 marked the actual commencement of work in the main facility area.
Project Details and Approval Process
The construction of two Guohe One reactors, which make up the first phase of the Laiyang plant, is among the projects approved under the chairmanship of Premier Li Qiang.
A total of six Guohe One units are planned to be located at the power plant site in the future.
Capacity and Generation Targets
Once all units are completed, the Laiyang nuclear power plant will reach an installed capacity of approximately 9.26 gigawatts.
In addition to generating 74 terawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, the facility will also offer heating capacity for a wide area.
