Those detained include a child who threw a burning cigarette into a forest near Bordeaux, a man who burned garbage in Perpignan, and a woman who started multiple fires south of La Rochelle.

While punishments for this crime once extended as far as the death penalty, today's sentences range from ten years to life in imprisonment.
