Hurricane Nolo brushes past Hawaii as Polo advances toward Mexico

Hurricane Nolo intensified as it passed near the Hawaiian islands, posing risks of flooding, hazardous winds, and extreme waves in the region. At the same time, Category 4 Hurricane Polo continued its movement toward Mexico's Baja California Peninsula.

Hurricane Nolo off Hawaii's Coast

Intensifying, Hurricane Nolo continued its slow movement south of the Hawaiian islands. Although the center of the storm is not expected to make direct landfall, its outer bands were reported to cause adverse weather conditions.

Rainfall and Flood Danger

Authorities stated that flash floods, hazardous winds, and severe waves pose risks in areas still recovering from previous storms. It was reported that rainfall totals could reach significant levels in parts of the Big Island.

Official Measures and Emergency

Following the emergency declaration issued by the governor, numerous guardsmen were called to duty across the state. With the emergency declaration signed by President Donald Trump, FEMA was authorized to provide coordination and funding support.

Polo Threat for Mexico

Creating storm conditions off Mexico's southwestern coast, Hurricane Polo moved toward the Baja California Peninsula. The system, currently at Category 4 with winds reaching high speeds, is expected to weaken before reaching land.
