Industrial Disaster Warning from Qatar as Strait of Hormuz Crisis Deepens
Qatar has warned of an industrial disaster if the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz persists. Regional tensions are also spilling over into Lebanon, Yemen, and East Jerusalem.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a global industrial disaster could occur if the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz continues. While shipments through the strait have dropped to their lowest level since May, tensions between the US and Iran, along with conflicts in the Middle East, are escalating across a broad geography.
Shipments Decline in the Strait of Hormuz
According to Kpler data, an average of only 10 commodity ships per day passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the last 10 days, marking the lowest level seen since May.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid Al Ansari stated that the world would face an industrial disaster if the crisis continues, emphasizing that reopening the strait is a priority.
Airstrikes in Lebanon
In a reported Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon, members of the same family across three generations, the youngest being a two-month-old baby, lost their lives under the rubble.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that a total of 4,362 people have lost their lives and 12,378 people have been injured in attacks since March.
Raids in and Around East Jerusalem
Israeli forces, accompanied by military vehicles and bulldozers, launched a dawn raid on the town of Anata and the Shuafat refugee camp, located northeast of occupied East Jerusalem.
During the raid, entrances were reportedly closed, a curfew was declared, homes were searched, water pipes were destroyed, and numerous Palestinians were detained.
Blockade Tension Between the US and Iran
A US State Department spokesperson stated that they would take decisive measures with regional partners to protect the global economy against Iran's attempts to obstruct maritime transport.
Iranian Acting Defense Minister Majid Ibn Reza rejected Washington's claims suggesting that Tehran lacks the technical capacity to target US warships.
Clashes and Toll in Yemen
According to World Health Organization data, approximately 900 people were recorded as dead or injured as a result of escalating clashes in Yemen, with 670 of them coming from the Taiz and western coast fronts.
It was announced that 20,000 people and families were forced to leave their homes due to fierce clashes between the Houthis and the internationally recognized government in Taiz.
International Reactions and Diplomacy
In a statement on social media, US Senator Mark Warner stated that the war in question has cost the American people 100 billion dollars and criticized the lack of strategy.
While International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi called on Iran to cooperate again with nuclear inspectors, the Tehran administration is preparing to implement a restricted zone practice in the Persian Gulf.
