Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the only solution to the current conflict between the two countries is negotiation, following US President Donald Trump's rejection of a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which he deemed unacceptable.
Diplomatic Impasse in the Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump rejected the proposal submitted by Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump announced that he did not accept the offer, arguing that control of the waterway in the region is already in the hands of the US.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that, considering Trump's contradictory statements in the past, they are awaiting an official and final response from Washington through intermediaries.
Emphasis on Trust from Tehran
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the mutual distrust between the two countries must be overcome. Pezeshkian expressed that they question the US's commitment to previously signed memoranda of understanding.
President Pezeshkian also announced to the public that the health status of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is good.
