Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel's security at the United Nations General Assembly in New York before an audience of mostly empty seats. During his speech, he waved a pager in his hand to recall Israel's September 2024 operation against Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, stating that they had been fighting on seven fronts over the past three years.

Protests in the Hall and Walkouts

Netanyahu's remarks and displaying the device drew strong reactions among the delegates present in the hall. During the speech, dozens of delegates from around the world walked out of the hall in protest. Netanyahu responded harshly to those leaving the hall, saying, "If there are any other moral cowards in the room who haven't left yet, please do so now."

Statements on Iran and its Nuclear Program

Making harsh remarks about Iran as well, Netanyahu stated that Israeli and US forces had been striking Iran for nearly seven months. Netanyahu claimed that Tehran's development of nuclear weapons had been prevented during this period and directed criticisms based on regional policies.

Accusations Directed at International Figures and Leaders

Criticizing many different targets in addition to Iran during his speech, Netanyahu accused Turkey of supporting Hamas and targeted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He also accused New York's Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani, of being antisemitic, while also criticizing the policies of countries such as the UK and France.
