Japanese forces have deployed three CH-47 Chinook helicopters to the region to bring the forest fires raging on Indonesia's Borneo island under control.
Delays Experienced Due to Weather Conditions
Because dense smoke and adverse flying conditions reduced visibility, the participation of Japanese teams in the operation had to be delayed the previous week.

Major Kogi Ogawa of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force stated that they hope to meet the expectations of the Indonesian people by utilizing the unit's experience in aerial firefighting.
