According to local authorities in the Moscow region, a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman lost their lives as a result of the attacks. Official authorities announced that a total of twenty people were injured across the wider region.
Infrastructure and Building Damage
An oil refinery and a residential building in the capital were damaged due to the airstrikes. The mayor of Moscow stated that this wave was the largest attack wave directed at the capital to date.
Statements by Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a social media post that domestically produced missiles and drones were used in the attacks. He emphasized that their aim was to target Russia's war economy and logistics facilities.
Ongoing Election Process and Defense
While the first parliamentary elections in wartime Russia were ongoing, the defense ministry announced that 1,100 drones had been shot down across the country and over Crimea. The Moscow administration stated that the attacks aimed to disrupt the elections but failed.
