Risks and Effects of Sugar Consumption

In the statement made by the Ministry of Health, it was stated that excessive sugar consumption leads to unhealthy eating habits and can increase the risk of diseases such as diabetes. It was noted that frequent consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages causes additional energy intake in liquid form.

Family Physicians' Screenings and Programs

It was conveyed that screenings for excess weight and diabetes risk are carried out through family physicians. It was reported that efforts continue to instill healthy eating habits within the framework of the Turkey Healthy Nutrition and Active Life Program.

Healthy Life Centers and Educational Activities

It was stated that education and awareness-raising activities for children, youth, and adults are carried out in healthy life centers. It was underlined that a culture of healthy eating must be instilled starting from childhood.

Healthy Alternatives and Reading Labels

It was stated that water and unsweetened beverages should be preferred instead of sugary drinks. In addition, recommendations were made to consume the fruit itself instead of fruit juice and to read food labels while shopping.
