New Announcements Made at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships
New animated series, game updates, and the location for the 2027 championship were announced at the closing ceremony in San Francisco.
During the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships and PokémonXP held in San Francisco, many new developments for the gaming world and media projects were shared with attendees.
New Animation Projects
The series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, prepared in collaboration with Aardman and to be broadcast on the Disney+ platform, was announced.
Additionally, hints of a new animated film titled Pokémon: Wild Card were shared with viewers during the event.
Card and Mobile Game Innovations
It was officially announced that dual-type Pokémon cards will be added to the Pokémon TCG Pocket game in October 2026.
New playable characters, namely Morpeko, Toxtricity, Jolteon, and Flareon, are joining the Pokémon UNITE roster.
Location of the Next Championship
According to the official closing announcements, the next major gathering, the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, will be held in Singapore.
It was announced that the event will take place at the Singapore EXPO center between August 13-15, 2027.
