New Flood Alert Issued Due to Rising River Levels in Nepal
Warnings have been issued against a new flood threat in the region as water levels in the Bhotekoshi River rise, and search and rescue efforts have been intensified.
As the death toll from the disaster affecting all of Nepal rose to 788, authorities put the public on high alert against a new flood threat with the rising river levels.
New Flood Threat and Warnings
Residents living in disaster-affected areas in Nepal have been warned to take precautions against potential new floods as water levels rise. Following the increase in the Bhotekoshi River, early morning warning messages were sent to citizens' phones.
Death and Missing Toll
According to data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the number of people who lost their lives in the disaster has reached 788, and 2,502 people remain missing. In the border region on the Chinese side, it was reported that 16 people died and 546 people are missing.
International Support and Aid
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim publicly announced that his country will send a search and rescue team to Nepal and pledged $1 million in financial aid.
