Newly Developed Ukrainian Drone Defense Weapon Scores a Hit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a new air defense interceptor system developed domestically by the country has successfully destroyed a jet-powered Shahed drone.
New Development Against Jet-Powered Drones
In his evening national address on Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided information on the efforts underway against next-generation jet-powered Russian suicide drones, which can reach speeds of over 400 kilometers per hour.
Zelenskyy stated that the new defense interceptor system developed entirely in Ukraine hit a target and destroyed a Shahed drone, though certain technical details still need further development.
Defense Technologies and Testing Processes
While officials noted that testing processes face difficulties due to high speeds, it was stated that more than six companies are conducting work in this field.
Yuriy Cherevashenko from the Ukrainian air force noted that next-generation guided missiles, which will be cheaper than drones in order to reduce costs, are among the solutions being tested.
Counter-Offensive in the Lyman Region
Ukrainian military units launched a new counter-offensive operation against Russian forces near Lyman in the east of the country.
Unit commander Andriy Biletsky announced that approximately 75 square kilometers of territory were cleared of Russian infiltration attempts under the operation codenamed Vivaldi.
Attacks Launched Against Cities
While port infrastructure in the Odesa region was targeted, attacks in Zaporizhzhia resulted in one death and power outages across the city.
Russian strikes targeting the capital Kyiv, as well as the cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, also caused casualties and injuries.
Targets Inside Russia and Moldovan Airspace
Ukrainian forces struck an oil refinery in the Russian city of Syzran, a drone manufacturing facility in Taganrog, and a staging area in the Oryol region.
Moldovan authorities confirmed that two Russian drones entered the country's airspace during Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the country.
Diplomacy and Political Developments
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that military operations in Ukraine will not be halted while potential peace talks continue.
The Ukrainian parliament held a vote approving the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
