Russia Launches Overnight Missile and Drone Strike on Nine Ukrainian Cities
Critical facilities and residential areas were targeted in extensive overnight airstrikes, resulting in casualties.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a large-scale overnight attack was carried out targeting industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, and military-related targets in nine Ukrainian cities.
Overnight Attacks
Russian forces carried out an intense bombardment with missiles and drones across Ukraine throughout the night. The attacks were reported to have continued into Thursday.
Targeted Regions
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that industrial facilities, oil refineries, logistics centers, and port infrastructure were targeted. Civilian areas such as apartment buildings were also damaged in these regions.
Casualties and Injuries
In the southern Zaporizhzhia region, a 78-year-old woman lost her life. It was also reported that one person was killed in the northern Kharkiv region and at least 14 people were injured in various locations.
Critical Infrastructure and Civilian Structures Damaged
Russian drones struck major distribution centers, destroying warehouses. Production equipment at a thermal power plant in the Kherson region was damaged, while residences, a school, and a medical center were affected in Kyiv.
Mutual Statements and Air Defense
While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need for additional air defense assistance, the General Staff of Ukraine announced that it had launched long-range drones at targets in Russia.
