Turkey Ranks Among Global Leaders in Generative AI Usage

According to evaluations shared by Yandex officials, Turkey ranks high globally in terms of the prevalence of generative AI technologies in the consumer market. More than 70 percent of users actively use these tools in their daily lives.

Artificial Intelligence Usage Rates

Yandex official Alexander Popovskiy stated that Turkey is one of the leading countries in the speed of adopting generative AI technologies. He emphasized that more than 70 percent of Turkish users use artificial intelligence tools on a daily basis.

According to the shared data, this rate is at a quite high level compared to certain other markets where operations are conducted. Users have gradually made this technology a permanent part of their daily lives.

Alternative to Traditional Searches

It was stated that users initially tried generative AI for entertainment or image generation purposes, but over time also started using it to search for information. This situation indicates that artificial intelligence is beginning to serve as an alternative to traditional internet searches.

It was noted that Turkish users also utilize artificial intelligence for daily needs such as getting news, following TV series scenarios, or obtaining information about football matches.

Sectoral Potential and Collaborations

It was reported that the greatest potential in the consumer AI field lies in the telecommunications sector, followed by finance and banking institutions. It was conveyed that companies are turning to these technologies to strengthen customer relations.

Yandex Turkey, with the aim of making Turkey a regional artificial intelligence hub, collaborated with METU (ODTÜ) to launch a master's program. Additionally, a Turkish large language model study named BİLGE is being conducted with TÜBİTAK.
