Severe Floods and Landslides Caused by Heavy Rains in Nepal
Loss of life has occurred across Nepal due to landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains, while transport routes have been blocked and rescue operations have been hindered.
Heavy rains increasing their effect in Nepal have led to major flood and landslide disasters, including a mountain slope sliding into the river in the Mustang region.
Mountain Slope Slid into the River
Footage recorded in the Mustang region showed a mountain slope sliding toward the Kali Gandaki River in just six seconds, briefly blocking the river.
Loss of Life and Missing Persons
Authorities reported that at least 24 people lost their lives and 14 others are missing as a result of floods and landslides caused by incessant heavy downpours.
Transportation and Evacuation Efforts
While floods completely swept away a residential area in Gandaki Province, landslides closed the highways leading to Chitwan to traffic, and security forces evacuated thousands of people.
Avalanche Hits Mountain Camp
It was stated that two people lost their lives and 10 people went missing as a result of an avalanche hitting the base camp of Mount Himlung Himal in the Manang district.
