Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder were among those detained during a protest in New York ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Protest and Detention Incident
During the demonstration, which was intervened by the New York police, protesters including the famous actors were detained on the grounds of blocking traffic at an intersection. Footage of the incident clearly showed the intervention of police officers.
Organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, participants reacted by holding banners and chanting slogans. It was reported that political figures were also among those detained.
Developments at the UN General Assembly
As the protests continued, many country representatives walked out of the hall while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was delivering his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Netanyahu made criticisms targeting various countries during his speech.
