It has been announced that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, on trial as the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, will face trial at the military base in Guantánamo Bay on June 5, 2028.
Trial Date Announced
The trial date has been finalized for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is accused as the principal mastermind of the terrorist attacks carried out against the World Trade Center and other targets on September 11, 2001. According to the official ruling published on Wednesday, the hearings are scheduled to take place in 2028.
Details of the Court Ruling
Military judge Lt. Col. Michael Schrama found prosecutors' January 2027 request inconsistent with the rules of trial procedure. Schrama determined June 5, 2028, as a more realistic timeframe for the hearings to begin.
Process and Other Defendants
During the trial process, jury selection and preparations will kick off on the designated date. Other defendants standing trial alongside Mohammed in this case include Walid bin Attash and Mustafa al-Hawsawi.
