Turkey ranks sixth globally in steel exports according to 2025 data

According to 2025 data published by the World Steel Association, Turkey rose to sixth place globally with 17.5 million tons of steel exports. During the same period, the country also positioned itself as the world's fifth-largest steel importer with 19.8 million tons of imports.

According to the report published by the World Steel Association containing 2025 data, China was the world's largest steel exporter. China was followed by Japan and South Korea on the list, respectively.

While Germany ranked fourth and the European Union fifth, Turkey positioned itself in sixth place globally with its 17.5 million tons of exports.

Turkey's position in steel imports

In global steel imports, the European Union stood out as the world's largest steel-importing region with 43.7 million tons. The EU was followed by the United States and other countries.

Turkey was recorded as the world's fifth-largest steel importer with 19.8 million tons of imports carried out in 2025.

Global shift in China's exports

The World Steel Association pointed out that China's steel exports have shown a strong increase in recent years and that this situation is connected to the development process of the country's economy.

The statement noted that per capita steel use in China has begun to decline and that this is a normal process that was also seen in other developed countries in the past.
