Turkey's Boron Reserves and New Investment Plans in Agriculture
At an event held in Istanbul, Turkey's leadership in global boron reserves and the new utilization opportunities of this mineral in agriculture were discussed.
Possessing 73 percent of the world's boron reserves, Turkey is launching new investment initiatives aimed at transforming the mineral into value-added products and expanding its use in agriculture.
Boron Reserves and Sales Revenues
According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, while Turkey hosts 73 percent of the world's boron reserves, it also accounts for 48 percent of global boron production.
According to updated data, 2.5 million tons of boron products were sold in 2024, generating 1 billion 322 million dollars in sales revenue.
Investment Meeting in Istanbul
The event, which addressed studies on the use of boron in agriculture and future investment plans, was held in Istanbul.
During the program, the expansion of boron-based agricultural products developed in Turkey in international markets and attracting new investments to the country were evaluated.
Activities in International Markets
Harun Gündoğan, chairman of the board of directors of the company producing fertilizer with boron, stated that the product has started to be used in 9 different countries.
Gündoğan noted that they operate in countries such as America, Canada, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
Contribution to Agricultural Yield
Investor Sergülen Bilen stated that boron-based fertilizer increases agricultural yield by 20 to 30 percent.
