United Nations Report: Winter Aid, Haiti Agriculture and Migrant Deaths

In recent reports published by the United Nations, urgent calls for aid against winter conditions were made for Gaza and the West Bank, while it was reported that agricultural production is being revived in Haiti, migrant deaths in the Mediterranean are increasing, and the human rights monitoring system is at risk due to funding shortages.
Call for Winter Aid for Gaza and the West Bank
While approximately 84 percent of Gaza's population lives in overcrowded residential areas or damaged shelters, this situation leaves families vulnerable to the threat of freezing, heavy rainfall, and flooding. It was reported that at least 11 children, including babies, lost their lives due to hypothermia last winter.
Funding Support for Health Facilities
UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory Ramiz Alakbarov announced that OCHA will allocate 2 million dollars to meet the energy needs of health facilities in Gaza for four months.
Agricultural Production and Support in Haiti
While families in Haiti's most affected regions have begun replanting their fields, the emergency support of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization is reaching 13,000 vulnerable households across 10 municipalities. Within the scope of the program, thousands of tons of seeds and small livestock are being distributed.
Increase in Migrant Deaths in the Mediterranean
While the number of those arriving in Europe by sea dropped by 39 percent this year to approximately 60,000 people, the number of people who lost their lives or went missing on Mediterranean migration routes rose to at least 2,292.
Human Rights Monitoring System at Risk
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated in his speech at the Human Rights Council that the human rights monitoring system is facing the danger of collapse due to budget cuts and staff reductions.
