United States envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following talks in Moscow.
US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to Kyiv on Sunday as part of efforts to end the war in Ukraine, following intensive meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Kyiv Visit Following Moscow Talks
US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv following their diplomatic contacts in Moscow.
This visit marked the first official trip by the two figures to the Ukrainian capital since the beginning of the war.
Meeting with Zelenskyy and Historic Cathedral Visit
The US delegation, which met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, inspected historic sites damaged by attacks in the capital.
The delegation toured Saint Sophia Cathedral, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and was damaged in Russian attacks.
Diplomatic Contacts and 72-Hour Ceasefire
Prior to the talks, a temporary 72-hour ceasefire was announced in which both sides halted airstrikes on each other's capitals.
It was also reported that representatives from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany were in Kyiv for diplomatic engagements.
