The University of Chicago ranked first in the latest 'Best Colleges for Veterans' rankings published by U.S. News & World Report.

Top University

The University of Chicago claimed the number one spot in U.S. News & World Report's newly announced list of best colleges for veterans.

Top Five Rankings

Cornell University placed second on the list, while Brown University and Washington University in St. Louis tied for third place.

Princeton University rounded out the top five institutions in this year's rankings.

Ranking Criteria

To be eligible for this list, institutions were required to be GI Bill certified or participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Additionally, they were required to have public school status and report at least 20 undergraduate veterans and active-duty service members for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Status of Private Universities

Although public schools received automatic points for Yellow Ribbon fund equivalencies, all of the top five positions on the list were held by private universities.
